Did you get that pun in the title? No? Ah well, I tried. Anyway, Saber Interactive wants you to flip out over Inversion's genre-bending gunplay and level designs, so check out this developer diary for what to expect in this upcoming shooter. It's definitely NOT what some of you are expecting, but I'm betting once the game is out, it'll be getting a lot more appreciation from the skeptics. I liked what I saw from the first demo a while back, so I'm sure that things have gotten a lot better in the time since. Namco Bandai is putting out some really fun titles and like a few other publishers, stretching their wings where it counts...

Inversion Multiplayer 101 Trailer: Another Angle On The Usual MP Modes...

E3 2012: Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition PC/DLC Announce Trailer: From Brings It To Everyone!
I figured after all the fan flames and rage about the PC version of Dark Souls getting "exclusive" new content we'd see that same content show up on consoles, but I'd also bet that Namco Bandai and From Software had this planned from the get-go. Granted, I'm one of those folks who hopes the PC version does well even though I won't be buying it because I prefer my games simple to drop in and play as opposed to dealing with potential trolls mucking up the online experience. That said, I'm also hoping we get a Game of the Year RETAIL disc with the original game PLUS all that new content in the Artorias of the Abyss expansion just for those of us who can't access DLC, but I guess we'll see how smart the publisher is, I guess. Anyway, it's coming out August 24 for Windows via Steam and sometime this winter in North America for consoles. And yeah, I'd buy the whole game again just to get the new stuff if it's not going to be released as an expansion disc...

Shinobido 2 Launch Trailer: Tenchu! (Geshundheit!)
Lame sneezy title commentary above aside, Aqcuire's new Vita game made me think of two things. One: Wait, there's a Shinobido 1??? I definitely missed that game. Two: Wait, this looks like a new Tenchu game and, hey, I loved most of them, so I'll feel right at home here! Sure, it's not a visual showpiece at all if you compare it to WipEout 2048 or Uncharted Golden Abyss. On the other hand, it's got that stylish something Acquire gets when they do their feudal Japan games (hey, I liked those Way of the Samurai games as well). In any event, I'll need to get some playtime in and get back to you guys and gals with a verdict at some point. Between this one and Touch My Katamari plus a bunch of other winners, Vita owners are off to a very decent start...

Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen Gameplay Trailer: Tenchu, Too
It's pretty clear that Acquire's upcoming Vita game isn't going to be the best-looking or most innovative title for Sony's new handheld, but that's just fine with me. I'm a big fan of the Tenchu series and what's here looks as if it's going to fit right in with the best games in that series. We'll have to see how well the touch controls work and if normal controls are an option, as I'm seeing all sorts of negativity out there in terms of gamers who prefer traditional over touching and tapping their way around environments. I have the feeling those folks won't have to worry all that much, though.

TGS 2011: Dark Souls Full Prologue Trailer
And here you go: the complete prologue to From Soft's upcoming action/RPG guaranteed to make grown men and women weep, throw controllers and hide under the couch simultaneously. I can't wait for October 7, that's for sure.

Dark Souls Prologue Video (Part III)
Can you feel that chill in the air? That's a combination of fall coming and Dark Souls about to drop into your hot little hands this October. Of course, that cold spine and goose flesh you have will soon be poked full of trap holes and roasted to a crisp by a dragon as big as a house, but at least you'll go down fighting and perhaps take a few beasties with you in the process. Ah... life is good... until you lose it to an armored boar's very pointy tusks...

Dark Souls Prologue Video (Part II)
Lovely. Here's the second part from FromSoftware's soon to be Game of the Year contender. October 11 is rushing up like a gust of hot wind from hell so be prepared for many hours of struggling to survive, poring over a wiki for help and more whining than a busload of kids on the way to school after a lazy summer. This game is going to blow minds and bust controllers.

Dark Souls "Bartholemew" Trailer Rocks (Well, The Music Does - The Game is Still Brutal)
I'll admit, this trailer made me laugh because of the music. Don't get me wrong - it's a great track... but anyone who's played Demon's Souls knows that the intensely dramatic (and frightening) main theme in that game set the tone for what was to come. This trailer made me think more of a music video from back in the days when MTV actually played them. That said, it certainly doesn't lessen the impact of what's looking to be one of the hardest games to date this console cycle. The video below is the fantastically creepy Prologue which sets up the action even better - take a look and judge for yourself.

Gamescom 2011: Dark Souls Press and Show Floor Gameplay Videos
Two fantastic looks at FromSoftware's hardcore action RPG just because I love the game so much. It's going to be hard as hard gets and many newbies will go through a few controllers or give up completely because the game won't stop trying to kill their characters in as many ways as possible. Still, I predict this one will be Namco Bandai's big hit for 2011 as well as From's biggest selling game for the PS3 and Xbox 360. I'm already mapping out October so I can TRY to finish the game at least once before Skyrim comes out. I have the feeling I'll end up playing DS for longer than I expected, though...

Knights Contract US Trailer
And here you go - Namco Bandai's US site just got around to posting this final US trailer for Game Republic's stylized PS3/Xbox 360 action game (with its creepy-looking shape-changing witch bosses). Executioner Heinrich & formerly slain witch Gretchen are on the case as they plow through packs of ugly enemies while on their mission of vengeance.

Knights Contract Gameplay Footage Video Trio
Game Republic's soon to be released PS3/360 action game just might be a little sleeper for fans of fast-paced action games with a little AI assistance on the side. Take a look at these three UK videos and perhaps think about making that pre-order?

Knights Contract Behind the Scenes Trailer
Game Republic's creepy, stylized action game ships shortly, so here's a peek at a "making of" trailer that packs in some nice footage as well as a bit of interview time. I'm hoping the game does well and plays as solid as it looks. New artwork is going up on the regular DAF blog - wait until you see the character art and renders that were added...

Gallery Update: Splatterhouse
Just a few more tame to awesomely gory screens for Namco Bandai's relaunch of the horror action game. Just keep saying to yourself: "It's only a few weeks away... It's only a few weeks away... It's only a few weeks away..."
2o points if you get the joke, by the way.

Gallery: Knights Contract (Ultra-Violence Screens)

Namco Bandai's upcoming addition to the spate of hyper-violent God of War-influenced games has some truly bizarre-looking monsters and a nicely stylized look to it that I like quite a lot. It's also one pretty gore-packed hack-up, as you'll see in these screens not quite ready for the regular DAF blog (thanks, ESRB and your silly restrictions!). With a 2011 release date, here's hoping the game gets enough polish and press to become a hit in its own right. GO, Game Republic!

Knights Contract E3 Trailer
Nice-looking and brutal stuff here from Namco Bandai and developer Game Republic. Love the concept, the hideous monsters and the fast-paced action. Sure, it might not be the next God of War (well, only GOW is GOW, folks), but it's good to see twisted stuff like this get the green light when it's looking as cool as what's here so far. More, please!
