May 15 is right around the corner, and yes, indeed, Rockstar has been getting the word out about Max's new adventure for a bit now, keeping the entire story under wraps save for some basics. In true Rockstar fashion, I expect this one to be big on solid dialogue, offbeat humor that makes for quotable lines and plot twists where least expected that make an overall memorable experience worth playing a few times through. I'm sure the multiplayer modes will be a smash as well, given the new Social Club aspect to things and enough changes to the formula to keep things fresh for a decent enough chunk of time. Is GTA V coming out this year? Maybe, maybe not. All I care about is what's hitting stores next week...

Max Payne 3 Weapons: The M1911 Is In. "You're Welcome," Says Rockstar...
Although Max's go-to guns in the original game were twin Berettas, the more punchy power of the M1911 should please fans of the original game who happen to want to swing a heavier shooting iron about as they blow away the bad guys. Rockstar is really showing of that game engine to its fullest (the 360-degree renders here are amazing) and I expect MP3 to be dissected by the more core (and sane) gun-owning gamers out there who can talk your ear off about every type of firearm imaginable. You guys are fun to have a few beers with, but I'm not going to get you mad about anything regarding sports, women, politics or even where to get good BBQ, that's for sure...

Max Payne 3 Design & Technology Video Update: Stop, Bullet Time!
The latest MP3 D & T video shows what it's all about when it comes to Max' signature time-stopping gunplay. I like that from the beginnings of the series, there's never been a logical explanation for his talents (he's a mutant, I tell you!), but it's all good because it's done so well (and has been copied multiple times since in other games). Yeah, yeah, The Matrix sort of did it first, but as far as games go, it's been Max who was the pioneer.

Max Payne 3 Weapons Update: Shotguns, Anyone?
Rockstar is really making sure fans know that Max is on point and on target to become a huge hit, so you'd better be respecting all this hard work they're putting out. I'm in for the story, the amazing attention to detail and the refined gameplay more than any multiplayer antics, but I like that the dev team is making the MP mode a bit evolutionary in a few respects. Keep it up, guys and you'll have some Game of The Year nominations from a few places and maybe even win a few more awards. We shall see...

Max Payne Multiplayer Trailer (Part 1): Rockstar Brings The... Er, You Know The Rest....
Yes indeed, this is looking pretty solid so far and with Rockstar's rather innovative multiplayer coming into play here and the upcoming (whenever that is) Grand Theft Auto V, I'd say even the dopiest naysayers will want to clam up and support the company with two game purchases once they see how well it all functions. Just a thought (and a hope - in the words of Rodney King: "Can't we all just get along?")...

Max Payne 3 Design & Technology Series "Visual Effects and Cinematics" (And How)
If some of the more vocal whiners out there actually shut the hell up about not seeing any Grand Theft Auto V videos and see what's going on here with Max Payne 3, they might also see that they can buy BOTH games and get two entirely different experiences. Conversely, all the people saying "stop bugging Rockstar about GTA V or they won't finish the game" need to grow up and realize they're partially insane or ALL the way stupid. A game developer isn't a spoiled six-year old who's not going to share his cookies if you tease him too much. The game will get done when it gets DONE, same as any other Rockstar project. Now everyone PLEASE shut the hell up and go play something? It would be REALLY awesome if the internet had ONE day where anyone out there posting on a forum actually knew what he or she was talking about...

Max Payne 3 Trailer #2: Rockstar Keeps The Suspense Coming...
Sure, the game's been slightly delayed until May 15 (and May 29 in Europe), which is making some out there a wee bit antsy. However, all that means is it gives me a bit more time to complete some other game I'd have normally rushed through just to get my hands on Max's latest adventure. In case you're wearing sunglasses and are having a hard time seeing that trailer, the official word on what's in it is below:
The second official trailer for Max Payne 3 reveals the web of intrigue that builds around Max, beginning with the kidnapping of Rodrigo Branco's beautiful young wife, Fabiana, while under Max's protection. As Max fights to uncover the truth behind the kidnapping, he is pulled deeper into a web of violence and deception with little hope of escape as street gangs, paramilitary forces and elite police units fight for power and influence over the streets of São Paulo, Brazil.

Max Payne 3 Weapons Trailer: That 608 Bull Is No Bull...
Ouch. Good thing this is a game, right? Anyway, Rockstar has launched the official Max Payne 3 website with a bang and a bunch of all-new art and screens plus a lot of other goodies to groove on. Just click above, sit back and enjoy all the media you can shake a stick at... Oh yeah, don't forget to pre-order the game, or Max will come get you (and you don't want that to happen)...

Max Payne 3 Design & Technology Video Series Parts 1 & 2
Oops. Thanks to being busy moving the other DAF blog over to Wordpress, I missed posting the first video in this series here back in November and that was bad news for me (real bad news), so here are both the first and second in the series for Rockstar's upcoming Max Payne 3 set for a May 2012 release. What, you're asking me "How real bad news?" Well, it's like this, Ace. I'm getting up yesterday morning at about 5 to go to the bathroom when there's a knock at the door. I hesitated for a second, shook my head and went to pee, thinking it was nothing but the next door neighbor dinking about in his place. Next thing I know, there's a guy behind me wearing a leather coat and ski mask and before I can blink, something hard hits me on the back of the skull.
Fade. To. Black.

I wake up about an hour later with a splitting headache, one foot in the toilet and a note taped to my forehead that says "Don't forget the new D & T video this time." I didn't need to guess who it was that knocked me out, as there was a fresh bottle of painkillers I didn't have before on the sink. Thanks, Max. Next time, use the damn phone. Ouch. Anyway, I'll be fine - just go pre-order the game (Standard or Special Edition, it's your move) so I don't get another visit from someone who's SUPPOSED to be in Sao Paolo dodging bullets...

GTA V Reveal Trailer. A Beautiful and Brilliant Teaser Of Things To Come...
It's here. Enjoy the awesomeness of it all. Spectacular can't even begin to describe how GTV 5 looks. That is all. Off to get some work done. Between this and Max Payne 3, 2012 is almost all Rockstar's. Granted, the actual release date hasn't been announced, but I'd bet real money we hear something "surprising" at E3 next year.
